ANZAC poem

ANZAC Day is a national holiday in Australia. We commemorate it to remember the soldiers that died in the war to give us freedom and peace.
Here is a poem I wrote from the point of view of family member waiting for my husband to return from Gallipoli.
I dream about my husband coming back safe without a single bullet in him.
I hope my husband will come back from war safe, ready to see me and make a happy life again.
I feel empty because I have no one to make me happy, so I just keep on being sad for a long time.
I worry about him while I go to the mail box to look if any letters have come and I see a card with a stamp ‘ANZAC.’
I cry because when I read the letter it says you  died in war. I feel empty.
I am an ANZAC widow.
